DrayTek VIGOR120 is an ADSL modem that stands out with its Ethernet connection, offering a true ADSL Ethernet modem experience rather than acting as a router.
By providing a PPPoE to PPPoA bridge, the connected device—be it a firewall, router, or PC—gains direct access to the internet and full control over the ADSL connection.
This capability makes DrayTek Vigor 120 a unique solution in its class. You can connect any device equipped with a PPPoE client, such as PCs, Ethernet-WAN routers, or even Apple Airport/Time Capsule™ products.
Unlike many other ADSL Ethernet modems that require complex setups to pass a public IP address to a secondary device, the Vigor 120 delivers a true routed IP connection, simplifying the setup process.
In most cases, DrayTek Vigor 120 requires no specific configuration—just plug it in, and the connected device manages the internet connection. All ISP login details are handled on the client device, not the modem, allowing for easy and hassle-free installation.
The connection to the ISP remains PPPoA, which is a unique feature of DrayTek Vigor 120, making it compatible with ISPs in the UK and other regions where PPPoA is the standard.
This approach eliminates the need for NAT or multiple public IP addresses, often associated with ADSL routers, and provides a single public IP address directly to the connected device.
With DrayTek Vigor 120, users enjoy efficient, straightforward internet access without the complexities of dual-stage setups or secondary NAT. This modem is ideal for users looking for a simple yet effective ADSL
